Cleaning the bathroom is a necessary part of houshold work, and for those of us without thw luxery of having a cleaner, it may be time to give that room a thorough scrub to ensure it’s sparkling clean.
Before putting on your rubber gloves, however, take a look at these cleaning tips to make sure you get the most out of your big clean.
Natural Products Can Work Well
Natural products can be used to clean many areas of the bathroom to avoid exposure to chemicals and save you money on commercial products.
A combination of water and vinegar wiped off with a newspaper or old rags can make your mirrors look brand new. The same solution can clean tiles, counters and cabinets as well as remove soap scum from your shower. A baking soda and water paste is a good abrasive for harder-to-remove grime.
Pay Extra Attention to Your Shower
Soap scum can be unsightly in your shower, and your showerhead can harbour many nasty germs and bacteria, including some that can cause illness. Keep yours clean by wiping condensation from surfaces after showering and leaving windows open regularly to lower humidity levels in the room.
To do a shower deep clean, start by pouring white vinegar into a bag and submerging your shower nozzle into it. Tie this in place overnight and rinse in the morning. Wash shower curtains and liners in the washing machine with some old towels, which help scrub off mildew and soap scum.
A paste of distilled white vinegar and baking soda can be applied to shower doors and left to sit for an hour to remove stubborn scum and stains. Scrub with a microfibre cloth.
